Doctor hours are by appointment only.  This allows us to better plan our day to avoid extensive wait times for you and your pet and to be respectful of your time as well.  We would appreciate the courtesy of letting us know if you will be late or are not able to make your scheduled appointment time.

We realize that emergencies do occur during office hours and will make room in our schedule to accommodate those needs.

Please let us know if you have any special needs or will need help getting you pet in from your car.  We will be more than happy to assist you as needed.

MEDICINE

We cover all areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology; Ophthalmology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Oncology; Endocrinology; among others.

IMMUNIZATION AND WELLNESS CARE

We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in wellness exams and consultation has rewards for both pets and owners. A wellness program is designed specifically for your pet’s health and includes a comprehensive physical exam, internal parasite testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccination program, and specialized blood tests for all life stages.

SURGERY

We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety and anesthetics protocols are specifically tailored to your pet. Gas anesthesia and heart and respiratory monitoring are routinely utilized to minimize risks. We are equipped to offer not only routine spays, neuters, and declaws but more advanced orthopedic procedures and soft tissue surgeries as well.

DENTAL CARE

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet’s teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasonic cleaning units to clean each tooth thoroughly. A technician polishes teeth to create a smooth, clean tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup.  Full mouth digital dental radiographs (x-rays) are taken of each patient.  Radiographs are an essential tool for uncovering oral disease that hides below the gumline and may be causing pain.  A veterinarian directs each case and examines the mouth to evaluate any area of concern the technician has noted. [See Before/After Photos]  We also offer a variety of products to aid in follow up home care to maintain a clean mouth.

EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE

In the case of a veterinary emergency, urgent care services are available 7am-10pm  daily.  After business hours call the regular clinic number at 507-345-5900 and you will be directed as to how to get in touch with the doctor on call.   After 10pm we direct calls to Blue Pearl Specialty and Emergency Pet Hospital at 952-942-8272  in Eden Prairie to better handle late night pet emergencies.   Our doctors work on a rotating call schedule. These numbers are for medical emergencies only. If you have questions or need to schedule an appointment, please call during regular business hours.

ENDOSCOPY

High-tech fiber optics permits direct visual examination and biopsies of your pet’s gastrointestinal system. This allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment of oral, esophageal, stomach, colon and even upper intestinal tract disease. Foreign objects can also be removed without the need for surgery.

PHARMACY

We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field. We also carry a variety of medicinal shampoos, dietary supplements, and prescription diets for a variety of medical conditions.

EUTHANASIA SERVICES

End of life decision making and saying goodbye to a long-time friend can be painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet’s comfort and dignity through this difficult time. Services include multiple options for taking care of remains as directed by the client.

ULTRASOUND

This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs; primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available.  At MVPH, our ultrasound is a helpful screening tool for identifying fluid effusions, masses, and bladder patholgy.  However, we do not have the same advanced training and experience as Radiologists and Internal Medicine specialists, so we may still recommend referral to one of several specialty hospitals in the Twin Cities for more in-depth, diagnostic ultrasounds when required.

RADIOLOGY

Radiographs, or (x-rays), help our veterinarians evaluate musculoskeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive, and urinary systems. These may be suggested by your veterinarian depending on your pet’s specific medical condition. Be assured that exposure of your pet to x-ray radiation is painless and risk free.

LAB SERVICES

We possess the ability to run many of the necessary lab tests in-house. This reduces the delay that may be critical between getting the needed answers and starting treatment on your beloved companion. We utilize several outside labs that provide excellent and rapid service for more complicated diagnostic tests and biopsies.
